A city with an incredible and rich history with an increasingly urban scene, Berlin is a unique and amazing city to visit. My time in Berlin was short, however, I got to see a lot, do a lot, hit all the main tourist attractions and got a general feel of the place and so I present to you my bucket list for your trip to Berlin based off my three days research.
TAKE IN THE BREATHTAKING VIEWS FROM THE REICHSTAG DOME
A historic, informative audio guide of the city, incredible panoramic views of Berlin and free entrance. There is no better way to check out the beauty of the Berlin landscape than from the top of the Reichstag Dome.
YOU KNOW YOU LOVE A GOOD SAUSAGE
The traditional sausage of Berlin is the Currywurst, however, any sausage will do. I’m not such a fan of the curry sauce and so instead I enjoyed the classic Bratwurst.
One of the most iconic landmarks of Germany and the most recognised symbol of Berlin, you can’t miss the chance to see the Brandenburg Gate up close and personal. The site of a great amount of German and European history, if the statues could talk, they’d tell you some tales.
GRAB A BIER
When in Rome and all that jazz, grab a stein in Germany!
The former Stasi prison which homed political prisoners is an incredible and informative afternoon. With ex-inmates guiding you round, you really connect with the history of this secret detention centre.
CRAWL THE PUBS
An incredible evening with The Original Pub Crawl Berlin introducing you to some of the city’s best bars and clubs whilst getting to know a variety of travellers from across the world.
BREZEL IT UP
Grab the traditional German pretzel whether it be original, as a sandwich or try my favourite, the brezel dog – like a chewy, salty version of a sausage roll.
Abandoned airport turned park, stroll along the runaway at this unique location watching wind surfers sail by and take in the quirky beauty.
Although native to France rather than Germany, the macarons at Cafe Lucre are some of the most delicious I have ever tasted in my life. The cute, little shop can be found in Mall of Berlin and I would highly recommend the rose macaron in particular.
PAY YOUR RESPECTS
Visit the Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe to say a pray, appreciate your life and witness this random but touching tribute to the tragedy of the Holocaust.
VIEW THE EAST SIDE GALLERY
Aswell as taking in the historic sight of the Berlin Wall, witness some of the city’s most beautiful, moving and artistic graffiti painted upon it.
What would be on your Berlin bucket list?
