They say the little things in life are what count and as cliche as that sounds, the older you get the more you realise how true it is. You learn to have more appreciation for the little moments and the little things around you. You also don’t need a big adventure to have a good time and experience the world. The little discoveries and moments can have just as much of an impact on your life as the big.

Usually, most of my adventures and discoveries take place on my day off when there is more time to do things however, recently we’ve been having little moments after work too giving us more time to appreciate our lives and our time here in Tenerife. Ok, so at the same time, yes we are technically in the middle of a big adventure as we currently live and work thousands of miles away from home. However, this little island is now our home and we’ve all become settled enough to enjoy the little things too.

The past few weeks, our evenings have been busy with doing little things. From going to a local Canarian restaurant away from the main tourist resorts with incredible views to a simple chilled night on the beach with the sound of the waves and a glass of wine, my evenings recently have been special. Even silly things like walking home one night and noticing a building up in the hills which sparked our curiosity. Nights later, we drove up there to investigate, discovering it was a fancy timeshare complex based on Hollywood and having a great evening just wandering around.

We only have three months left on this island and that seems like a lifetime but I know it’ll pass in a flash. There’s not much time left to explore the island and enjoy my time here and I wanna experience everything, savouring every second. The first few months of the season, I’d come home from work and chill in bed watching a movie. It is still nice to occasionally do that and relax on an evening but I much prefer how my time is being spent now. There is too much to see and experience to be sitting in a room in front of a tv. Life is too short not to enjoy every moment and appreciate every second. I am very grateful for all the little moments that make me smile and make up my life.

All opinions are my own and just that: opinions.
