TEA, CAKE AND BIG BEN: AFTERNOON TEA BUS TOUR

I can’t remember when or where I discovered the afternoon tea London sightseeing bus tour by BB Bakery, I just remember it has been a long while and I have wanted to do it since the second I set eyes on it.

BB Bakery is a well-known bakery and cafe in Covent Garden, London serving delicious home-made cakes and having cute little tea afternoons. The company has a variety of different afternoon tea options in Covent Garden, however also runs a few unique little options. You can munch on your cake on a boat tour of the city, have a tea picnic, get it delivered or sightsee on a old fashioned red bus.

The vintage London buses Delboy, Rodney and Marlene started making delicious travels in 2014 and drive around Central London taking in some the best and most famous sights of the city. On your journey, you will be accompanied by savouries, cakes and tea to indulge on the tour.

We hopped on board the 3pm festive Christmas tour across the road from Trafalgar Square and were delighted by the adorableness of the bus. Beautifully vintage with the cutest little cakes and a warm atmosphere. The driver whisked us around the city whilst we took in the sights of Big Ben, Buckingham Palace, Harrod’s,  The London Eye, Royal Albert Hall and many more amazing views of London. On the table was a little information booklet which as well as giving you information about the company, also gave you plenty of knowledgeable information about the places pointed out by the on board crew. Very handy!

While our eyes were taking in the sights, our mouths were taking in the tasty treats. A variety of sandwiches, pastries and cakes which were a treat both on the eyes and the tongue. I’m not much of a fish person but the smoked salmon blinis with cream cheese were delicious whilst both the quiche and the bread were mouthwatering. I absolute adored every single savoury item.

The cakes were a little bit less to my taste as I don’t like Christmas cake but the macaron was wonderfully tasty, soft and moist and the raspberry and coconut cream was to die for! Absolutely scrumptious food that I cannot fault. During the tour we were also provided with a lovely bottle of freshly squeezed orange juice, a variety of hot drink choices and finished off with a scone.

The tour cost £45 per adult (£35 for children) which is a fair price for a two in one afternoon. I cannot say a bad word about BB Bakery’s afternoon tea bus tour. The food was incredible, the servers were lovely plus the afternoon was a unique twist on both sightseeing and afternoon tea. The tour is perfect for both a first time tourist to see the sights and also, for the Londoner like myself for a bit of a novelty. It was all terribly British and I loved it!
