Every one needs some time alone. Time to breathe, think and just enjoy your own company. If you don’t spend time by yourself, you’re never really going to know who you are and when stress appears, you won’t know the best way to tackle it for you. Me time is important and self care is the ultimate way to take care of both your body and mind. I’ve learnt a lot about myself over the years and got to know what really helps me de-stress and feel good

Bubble baths

The ultimate and most obvious form of self care. Throw me a bath bomb, some candles, a face mask and a good book and I will be all set for an evening of relaxtion and bliss. I don’t currently have a bath in Gran Canaria and it’s breaking my heart!

Books, blog posts, magazines, you name it, I’ll read it. I got my love of books from my parents and have always had a read on the go. As a teenager, I was all about magazines and I still love a good gossip column every now and then. Blog posts are where real life is at, it’s all about opinions, views and personal experiences. I just love getting lost in other people’s words.

When I was kid, I would always write stories or songs. I thought I was going to be the next famous author or songwriter. As I grew older, this developing into writing a journal and over the past few years, my blog. I love it because it’s not something I necessarily think about, my fingers just touch the keyboard and words come out.

Meditation is still relatively new to me having only taken it up in October. I love taking the time just to be by myself completely zenned out. It’s really helped me with stress and positivity plus totally sets me up for the day.

Sometimes you just need some fresh air to blow away the cobwebs. To be honest, I never do this alone, I’m usually with one of my parents or Ash and even if I am ‘alone’ I have a dog with me. Regardless of whether I’m alone or with someone, I love just being out in nature, away from lifes stresses and when I get home, really feel like I’ve accomplished something.

I love shopping but tend to get a little stressed if someone is with me. When I’m alone and with no time constraints I can be in my happy place.

It’s hard to bake any more as you can’t really have fully stocked kitchen equipment and ingredients when you don’t have a permant home and are living out of suitcase. I love having an idea and just running with it, my favourite part is decorating when I get to be creative. I can easily lose track of time baking.

Another one which is increasingly harder with living abroad but whether watching or performing, I will never feel more at home or like myself than in a theatre. Either getting drawn into performing a character or being mesmorised by a performance, I will always feel at peace and have a buzz.

Watching tv or a movie

Getting lost in another world is a great way just to chill for an hour or two. I will always get lost in Greys Anatomy, Keeping Up With The Kardashians or Sex and the City and if I need a good laugh, Just Go With It gets whipped out.

I absolutely love getting lost in other people’s words as well, whether its books, blogs, or magazines! Sometimes that bit of escapism is just what you need! I also find shopping with other people, even if it’s close friends, a little bit stressful so going by myself is definitely my preference! I never used to find cooking or baking therapeutic, I used to think it was quite stressful but now I’ve grown to love it! Nowadays I would definitely count that as a self-care activity too!

My mum I can tolerant, anyone else no and Ash, definitely not. If we go together, I don’t even look at stuff for myself because I’ll end up stressed. Cooking, I still don’t find enjoyment in sadly but baking, I adore and I can make a banging cupcake!! x
