It’s that time of year again when we’re all saying goodbye to the people who have kept us going all Summer and the place we have called home for so many months. There is always a farewell party in the form of an end of season jolly to celebrate the success of the season and have one last hurrah! This year, we were lucky enough to have two.
For the first, we had a whole island end of season jolly. This meant we had to travel the two and a half hours to the other side of the island for the party. The problem with this was we all finished work at 1pm, didn’t get picked up til 2pm, then had to travel for 2 and a half hours before being picked up at 5:45pm… so frustrating when the dress code is ‘dress to impress’ and you only have 45 minutes to get ready! We pulled it out of the bag though and all looked marvellous. It’s just typical that we turned up and then waited an hour until everyone else had arrived…
The party was in Capo Bay hotel which was a really nice setting with a drag queen dj, a photo booth, free bar and some nibbles. It was a really nice evening where we danced, we sang and team Paphos absolutely smashed the awards! It was also my first evening drinking since May and I certainly had a fuzzy head the next morning. A lot of the team headed out into Ayia Napa but we chose to return to the hotel and drink tea on the balcony. Old before our time!
Speaking of the balcony, our hotel was stunning. We stayed at Grecian Park which is located in Cape Greco, amazing sea view, gorgeous room and a rainfall shower which I’m always happy with.
The second party was a few days later and was just for team Paphos. We got picked up by the open top wedding bus which had a champagne reception and took us driving round Paphos for an hour. The novelty and my enjoyment quickly wore off when within 5 minutes I had been hit in the face by a tree resulting in my champagne going flying. I spent the rest of the journey sticky and wet with a throbbing eye. Fun!
The bus dropped us off at Rimini’s which is a Greek/Italian restaurant we’ve been to before. We had a lovely sit down meal before being presented with some awards. It was a really nice atmosphere with everyone being praised for something and great team spirit. I won a certificate for team support and independent work but to my surprise, was also presented with a second award. I won the team manager’s choice award for being a role model and ambassador to the company through my work and team support this Summer. I was presented this with a beautiful bunch of flowers and a bottle of prosecco. It’s so nice when hard work is appreciated because it so often goes unnoticed.
So, that’s pretty much a wrap, most people have gone home and I will shortly be following them early next week. It has been a very challenging season with a lot of hard work but I am very grateful for my time here in Cyprus.
