A month today my contract for season 3 begins which hopefully means, I will be on a plane heading to Cyprus in exactly 4 weeks. It couldn’t come quick enough. As much as I love my friends and family, I need to get away. The UK isn’t for me any more and I’ve felt it more this year than any other year.

Now in my third season, I’ve got it down to a tee. I know what I need and what I don’t need and this year I’ll probably be taking less with me. When you live out of a suitcase for the majority of a year, it’s surprising the things that you don’t miss at home and realise you don’t need when you get back. It’s also surprising the things you pack, thinking you definitely need and then you never touch them. In my first season, a fellow rep arrived with two huge suitcases, one entirely filled with shoes. I bet she didn’t even wear most of them. I myself only took with me three pairs of sandals, two pairs of heels and a pair of lace ups excluding my work shoes and even that was too much. Last season was more like one pair of flip flops, a pair of sandals and a pair of heels whilst doubling up my work Converse as my casual shoes. The packing this year will definitely be minimal.

Yesterday, I started getting prepared for the next season. I attended my contact lens check to make sure I have enough lenses to get me through the Summer as well as popping into Primark to buy a new pair of work flats. My first Summer, I spent a fortune buying tons of things I might possibly need but this time I realise, I don’t need much. I needed a new pair of Converse which I got for Christmas and a new pair of flats which I bought yesterday. I’m pretty much sorted for the essentials. I also spent a lot of time preparing, making sure everything was sorted but now I’m used to it, I’m confident in the fact I have very little to do. I barely even need to pack as I still haven’t unpacked from my return from Gambia!

I also feel more mentally prepared to go this time. The past two years, I’ve had a part of me excited and a part sad about leaving my family and friends behind. This year though, I don’t feel like I’m leaving everything behind. Ashley is both my family and my best friend and I am so excited to share this experience with him.

So there’s very little for me to get prepared in order to go, a bit of reordering the suitcase and that’s that. It’s basically just a waiting game and it couldn’t come soon enough. I can’t wait to receive the email with my flight details so I know exactly when the adventure begins. I have no idea what Cyprus has in store for us but I’m excited to find out!
