Last summer in Mallorca, it was all about sangria. This summer in Tenerife, I’m all about the mojito. I have fallen in love. Last September, whilst I was still in Mallorca, I tried my very first mojito. I like it but I stayed true to my favourite Long Island iced tea and a sip of the citrusy God did not pass my lips again until arriving back on the Canary island this year. I am head over heels and pretty much order a mojito in every bar and restaurant I go to. I have had great fun this summer sampling a great deal of mojitos in the South of Tenerife and decided to write this guide for any mojito lovers out there and give my pick of the bunch.
Located in Parque Santiago 6 on the outskirts of Las Americas and Los Cristianos, Loft is a coffee bar/restaurant by day and cocktail central at night. A cute little outside bar with an astroturf giving it that garden feel, live djs and laser shows and some of the most amazing flavoured mojitos on the island. Both the watermelon and strawberry are to die for.
GRAN EL SOL
Positioned above Playa de Fanabe in Costa Adeje, Gran El Sol is the perfect place to sip a cocktail while watching the sun go down. Their extensive cocktail menu as some great choices including a variety of flavoured mojitos. Try the blood orange for a great flavour kick!
This little establishment doesn’t even have a cocktail menu or mojitos on their price guide but my God, do they make a banging one. The Treehouse is a quirky little English pub in Chayofa above Los Cristianos. A lovely little place to grab a drink, a bite to eat or even have a bash at the pub quiz.
Having only opened earlier this Summer, Lucky 7 is certainly making a name for itself. With gorgeous views over Playa de las Vistas, mouthwatering burgers and a fabulous mojito, this little place is a firm favourite.
If you’re stopping in El Medano for the day, Timon’s on the beach front is certainly worth a visit. Tiny little bar right on the edge of the ocean, you can sip away with the waves crashing against you and watch windsurfers sail by. At 2.50€ a pop, these mojitos are quite possibly the cheapest on the island!
Stepping a little bit outside of the box flavour wise, this violet mojito from La Cabana is heavenly. Just opposite the Torviscas Playa, it’s also the perfect place to pop down to for a cheap full English.
Harley’s have to most extensive cocktail list on the South of the island but obviously, I still always go for my firm favourite. The passion fruit mojito is delicious and you can always combine it with one of Harley’s incredible meals or enjoy it with some live music late on an evening.
This restaurant is a favourite food wise but will also whip you up a delicious strawberry mojito.
A litre of delicious mojito served in a novelty boot glass… What more do you need in a drink?
And last but certainly not least, we come to my favourite cocktail on the island. Oriental Garden is an Asian restaurant on The Golden Mile in Las Americas. The restaurant above the Safari Centre serves a fantastic meal selection including Indian, Chinese and Thai. They also serve the most delicious drink I have ever tasted and the best mojito. I give you the kiwi mojito. I dreamt about this Godliness since my first visit and just had to return last week. Try it, you won’t be disappointed!
